Inner Mongolia is a major clean energy production region in China, generating substantial wind and solar capacity that frequently exceeds local grid capacity. Large-scale battery storage systems absorb surplus daytime generation and release electricity during peak demand periods, reducing renewable energy curtailment and stabilizing long-distance transmission corridors serving eastern China’s major cities. The storage cluster now directly powers industrial and computing infrastructure, including Envision’s Galaxy Campus data center facility in Ulanqab designed to support up to one million accelerators.
