A second defendant, Abubakar Adamu, 35, who was the driver of the stationary lorry, faces a charge of obstructing traffic flow and also denies the allegation. An officer from the Ogun State Motor Traffic Division, Inspector Christopher Ajayi Taiwo, provided testimony regarding the crash scene, noting that both vehicles had been removed by the time he arrived. Evidence collected at the scene included debris and soya beans from the lorry’s cargo scattered across the roadway.
During proceedings, the court learned that police have not yet obtained a formal statement from Joshua. When questioned by the defendant’s legal counsel about this outstanding statement, the investigating officer indicated that efforts to contact Joshua were ongoing and that he had been unable to reach the boxer directly.
Joshua, who was born in Watford and has family connections to Sagamu in Ogun State, subsequently shared a tribute to the deceased staff members on social media, reflecting on their character and expressing condolences to their families. The trial has been scheduled to resume on 10 September.
