Richie was arrested at a Tesco petrol station forecourt in Church Langley Way on 29 July, shortly before 23:20, while with his Hyundai IX35. He was taken into custody at a police station in Harlow, where he was subsequently charged with operating a motor vehicle while over the legal alcohol limit.
According to the charge sheet, Richie’s breath sample contained 65 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, which the prosecution noted was nearly double the prescribed legal limit.
