Four arrests have been made in connection with the killings. Police have not yet established evidence linking the deaths to a single perpetrator. South African homicide statistics indicate 5,427 murders occurred between April and June, with data from the South African Human Rights Commission indicating 569 women were killed and 1,052 others survived attempted murder during the same period.
