The research indicates that meeting a one-third reduction in methane emissions—consistent with the Global Methane Pledge target for 2030—could reduce peak warming by 0.15C. The authors conclude that decoupling methane and CO2 reduction strategies and setting specific methane targets is essential for achieving climate goals aligned with the Paris Agreement’s objectives.
