Global wholesale market sourcing costs represent the largest factor contributing to the expected price rise, though upgrades to Great Britain’s energy infrastructure are also playing an increasingly significant role. Energy UK’s debt estimates exceed official Ofgem figures by roughly £1bn, as the regulator only counts bills unpaid for more than 90 days, whereas the industry group includes those overdue beyond 30 days. The unpaid bills currently add approximately £50 annually to typical household bills.
