Black Mandala, a New Zealand-based sales firm, has secured global sales rights to three horror features produced through Anatomica Films. Director and writer J. M. Stelly helmed all three titles alongside producer Johnny Stassi under the Anatomica Films banner. The agreement was negotiated between Stelly and Black Mandala co-founder Michael Kraetzer.
“Within Madness” draws inspiration from real-world criminal cases, centering on filmmaker Mark Chapel and collaborator Donovan Summers following their arrest. The investigation uncovers disturbing physical evidence including remains, recorded materials, photographs and film documentation spanning years of violent activity. A film titled “The Sacrament of Bondage” is central to the narrative, depicting Summers’ descent into violence and early criminal acts. The story incorporates prison interviews and recovered footage as it traces the psychological entanglement between the two men. The film features Jared Bankels, Matt Story, Keegan Macy and Jamie Nipe.
“Vessel” follows Joseph, a pastor whose belief system collapses when his wife Mary disappears and their pregnancy is lost. As Joseph examines events preceding her disappearance, temporal boundaries dissolve while disturbing phenomena within their residence suggest forces beyond ordinary grief. The narrative builds toward revelation of a non-human presence attempting to breach physical reality through human suffering. The cast includes Keegan Macy, Jamie Nipe and Dane Rhodes.
“The Thirteenth Gate” features investigator Nathan Hale awakening in an abandoned industrial location with no memory of arrival. While searching for his missing wife Marissa, Hale navigates an intensifying sequence of warping, looping environments drawn from his own psychological material. An individual known as M orchestrates an occult ceremony intended to open thirteen dimensional gates, with the investigation blurring distinctions between actual events, memory and constructed reality. The film incorporates psychological horror, body horror, occult themes and science-fiction elements. Jeff Pearson, Jamie Nipe and Keegan Macy appear in the cast.
Kraetzer stated the company is enthusiastic about the partnership and aims to build international audiences for the three titles. “Within Madness” will be presented to buyers first during the Toronto Film Festival market, with all three subsequently pitched at AFM.
