Comedian John Bishop has announced cancellations of several scheduled appearances following an ankle injury sustained during a motorbike ride. The incident occurred on August 30, with Bishop sharing updates on social media describing the extent of the injury and noting visible swelling and bruising.
Among the cancelled engagements is a comedy performance scheduled for September 11 at Somerset County Cricket Club’s grounds in Taunton, where Bishop was set to appear alongside comedians Justin Moorhouse and Sally-Anne Hayward. Additionally, Bishop will not participate in Sir Chris Hoy’s Tour de 4 charity bike ride taking place in Glasgow.
Bishop provided a humorous characterization of the accident, noting that his riding companion Tim Peake, an astronaut and cyclist, demonstrated superior motorcycling skills compared to his own. He indicated he would be consulting with a specialist over the weekend to obtain further assessment regarding the injury’s healing trajectory.
Somerset County Cricket Club’s chief executive Jamie Cox stated that ticket holders would receive full refunds for the cancelled event. Cox expressed regret over the cancellation while emphasizing that Bishop’s health takes priority and that he should adhere to medical guidance. The club extended wishes for a prompt recovery and expressed hopes of hosting Bishop’s performance at a future date.
