OneRail, a last-mile delivery company, unveiled OmniStar, a new artificial intelligence platform developed in collaboration with Nvidia. The platform is designed to help retailers evaluate delivery options and select the most efficient choice for individual orders by leveraging OneRail’s proprietary data network.
According to OneRail leadership, the platform significantly accelerates decision-making processes that were previously time-consuming. Where package routing decisions historically required approximately 20 minutes, OmniStar can complete the analysis in roughly 2½ minutes. This speed improvement enables retailers to operate larger, faster, and more precise supply chains while maintaining cost efficiency.
The company’s partnership with Nvidia began three years prior and focused on integrating artificial intelligence capabilities into logistics operations. OneRail’s training data includes information from a network comprising more than 12 million drivers and over 1,000 logistics partners, allowing the AI system to identify optimal routes and delivery methods. The platform functions as a real-time decision layer that directs orders to appropriate carriers and delivery modes based on cost and efficiency factors, rather than relying on predetermined rules or manual planning.
OneRail stated that OmniStar has already been deployed with select customers. A large tire distributor utilizing the platform achieved estimated savings of $40 million annually over a three-year period through more efficient resource allocation. The company projected the platform would process more than $6 billion in gross merchandise volume in the fourth quarter.
The platform aims to help smaller retailers compete more effectively on delivery speed and economics. OneRail noted that its earlier partnership with FedEx regarding same-day delivery services would now be integrated with OmniStar capabilities to serve smaller businesses more effectively.
