Dan Stevens is returning to the world of The Guest with Onslaught, a new action-thriller directed by Adam Wingard set to release Sept. 4. Onslaught serves as an indirect sequel that completes a spiritual trilogy alongside Wingard’s 2011 home-invasion film You’re Next and The Guest. In the new installment, Kammler operates within an organization called Priapus and represents the K in the defense contractor KPG introduced in earlier films. Director Wingard confirmed that Kammler is descended from Operation Paperclip, the post-World War II program that brought German scientists to the United States. The character’s connection to David Collins remains ambiguous, though Kammler may be his ancestor or creator.
Stevens collaborated with director Wingard to reshape the character of Frau Kammler, Kammler’s wife, into a more dynamic role. The rewrite transformed the character into a dominatrix, with Stevens suggesting the role concept to Wingard. Rebecca Hall, Stevens’ longtime friend and former college roommate, portrays Frau Kammler. The film follows a new generation of programmable super-soldiers that lack the humanity occasionally displayed by the original David Collins character. Their rampage culminates at a trailer park home belonging to former Army sniper Celeste, played by Adria Arjona.
While Stevens has remained noncommittal about a direct sequel to The Guest, he indicated openness to further stories within the KPG-verse. He noted that Onslaught has been structured to allow for potential follow-ups. Beyond this project, Stevens is engaged in other roles including a character in season two of Dexter: Resurrection and a forthcoming portrayal of RoboCop in an Amazon Prime Video series produced by Blumhouse Atomic Monster and showrun by Peter Ocko.
