Saturday Night Live announced the addition of two featured players to its cast roster ahead of the show’s 52nd season. Saidah Belo-Osagie, a writer and comedian, joins the NBC program after creating and starring in the solo theater production Saidah Gets Closure and writing and directing the short film Tinge. Belo-Osagie has also developed the Afrobeats Futura live discussion series and regularly produces sketch content for social media platforms. Grace Reiter brings comedy and acting experience, having appeared in a recurring capacity on HBO’s The Chair Company and Chelsea Peretti’s feature film First Time Female Director, with an upcoming role in the Netflix series Minimum Wage.
The returning cast will include main castmembers Michael Che, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Marcello Hernandez, James Austin Johnson, Colin Jost, Sarah Sherman and Kenan Thompson. Featured players from the previous season—Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Ben Marshall, Ashley Padilla, Kam Patterson, Veronika Slowikowska and Jane Wickline—are also slated to return. The season will see the departures of Bowen Yang, who exited midway through last season, and Chloe Fineman, who left over the summer. Writer and occasional on-screen performer Martin Herlihy has also departed.
The program will premiere on Sept. 26 with New York Knicks guard and NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson serving as host and KATSEYE performing as the musical guest. Upcoming hosting assignments for October have been secured by Dakota Johnson, Shane Gillis and Inde Navarrette.
