Blue Finch Films has secured worldwide sales rights to “The Dark Gets In,” a supernatural thriller directed by Sean Hogan. The film is scheduled to premiere at Beyond Fest later this month.
The narrative follows a documentary crew tasked with investigating the disappearance of a young girl. Their investigation leads them to encounter phenomena that prove increasingly disturbing and otherworldly in nature. The filmmaker employs the true crime documentary format as a foundation before transitioning the story into supernatural territory.
Hogan, who previously directed “The Devil’s Business,” also wrote the screenplay for the project. Producer Evrim Ersoy, whose previous work includes “In a Cold Vein,” collaborated on the film alongside executive producers Paul Goodwin, Nick Harwood, Jim Hinson, Mike Chapman, and Fatima Hayward.
In comments about the project, Hogan described his creative process, noting that the concept originated several years prior but required a specific narrative approach to reach its final form. He characterized the finished film as combining elements of tragedy, tension, and mounting dread. Ersoy highlighted the continuation of his professional relationship with Hogan, citing the success of their prior collaboration “To Fire You Come At Last.” She described the current project as a distinctive work blending supernatural and true crime elements.
Blue Finch Films’ current sales portfolio also includes titles such as “Kick On,” selected for Toronto Midnight Madness; “Flapjax,” a sci-fi horror-comedy chosen for Fantastic Fest; and “Misson,” which features George MacKay and received backing from BBC Film and Screen Scotland.
