Slack can now vibe-code interactive charts and reports inside chats

Slack is rolling out a new capability called Slackforce Surfaces that enables users to create interactive reports, polls, dashboards, presentations, and other tools directly within chat conversations. The feature leverages AI-powered Slackbot to generate these elements based on user requests, with the assistant drawing information from relevant conversations and connected applications such as Google Drive and Salesforce.

Once Slackbot generates a Surface, users can distribute it to colleagues, pin it to channels for team visibility, and allow others to interact with it and provide feedback through comments. The company demonstrated the functionality with an example in which a user requested an arcade-themed visualization of AI token usage, resulting in an interactive dashboard displaying token consumption across organizational divisions including sales, design, and engineering.

Ryan Gavin, Slack’s chief marketing officer, emphasized that the feature keeps data analysis within the platform where conversations occur rather than requiring export to external tools. According to Gavin, teams can build dashboards, presentations, and reports directly in their existing conversation space and collaborate on the results immediately.

The announcement follows recent updates to Slackbot that expanded its capabilities to summarize cross-channel information, filter through messages, and help identify scheduling availability for meetings. Slack added collaborative vibe coding channels last month as part of its ongoing development of AI-assisted features.

Slackforce Surfaces is accessible to all workspace users, including those on free plans, provided they have Slackbot enabled. The feature will support live data integration starting in October. Slack indicated that the tool will only access information that users have explicitly authorized their AI systems to use.
