‘The Revenant’ Star Forrest Goodluck Joins ‘Skin Games’ Road Trip Drama (Exclusive)

Forrest Goodluck, known for his role in The Revenant, has joined the cast of Skin Games alongside Phillip Forest Lewitski in lead roles. The film also features Carmen Moore, Joel D. Montgrand and William Belleau, who appeared in Killers of the Flower Moon. This marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Jon B. Elliot, with production currently underway in Vancouver and British Columbia.

The indie drama follows two young Indigenous men incarcerated in a Vancouver jail with contrasting backgrounds. Lewitski portrays Jesse, a white-passing college student detained following a drunken altercation, while Goodluck plays Russell, a political activist and artist from New Mexico imprisoned for creating a politically charged mural. Upon their release, the characters embark on a cross-border road trip to New Mexico, during which they navigate personal struggles and questions of identity.

Goodluck’s previous film credits include The Wolf Will Tear Your Immaculate Hands and How to Blow Up a Pipeline, in addition to his appearance in The Revenant. Lewitski has appeared in television productions including Utopia Falls, Masters of the Air and the series Bones of Crow. The ensemble cast is entirely Indigenous, with Matthew Alan Taylor and Jen Oleksiuk, who has worked on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, also participating.

Photon Films will handle Canadian distribution of Skin Games. Producer Jessie Anthony plans to present the film to international distributors at TIFF: The Market in Toronto on behalf of production companies Vandal Productions, Pass Through Productions and Oystercatcher Films. The screenplay was written by Justin Neal, with Cole Vandale serving as producer alongside executive producers including Patti Poskitt Neal, Elliott, Mark Slone, Sardé Hardie, Goodluck and Forest Lewitski.
