Mylla Films, a Swedish genre production company founded by “Midsommar” producer Patrik Andersson and NonStop Entertainment CEO Jakob Abrahamsson, has established itself as a hub for Nordic genre talent since launching in 2022. The company is expanding its roster with high-profile creative figures and developing a slate of projects at various stages of production.
Tobias Forge, frontman of the Grammy-winning metal band Ghost, is making his directorial debut with a segment for “V/H/S/ Mixtape,” the latest installment in the horror anthology franchise. The five-and-a-half minute segment, shot in three months, features actors Gustav Hammarsten and Nour el-Refai and is described as a story-driven death metal music video. The project will premiere at Beyond Fest on September 30, followed by a release on Shudder on October 9, with Nordic distribution through NonStop Entertainment.
Production designer Henrik Svensson, known for his work on “Midsommar” and “Sick of Myself,” is directing his first feature, “The End,” a low-budget avant-garde experimental film starring Swedish author Mattias Ribbing. The company is targeting a genre festival launch in spring 2027 for the project. These lower-budget productions reflect Mylla’s response to challenging film financing conditions in the Nordic region.
The company is also pitching “Trespassers,” a €3 million Swedish horror film directed by Johannes Persson and co-written with Melina Maraki. The project, already boarded by Scandinavian distribution group Scanbox, follows four young people from a failed anti-establishment movement who travel to Northern Sweden and encounter an isolated group with dangerous beliefs. Production is scheduled to begin late summer 2027. “Bloodsuckers,” Mylla’s first feature-length fiction project, is set for release early 2027.
According to company leadership, the slate reflects efforts to balance artistic ambition with financial viability in a market where theatrical prospects remain challenging.
