TP-Link has announced its entry into the Wi-Fi 8 market with two new hardware platforms designed to address connectivity challenges in the emerging standard. The company revealed the Archer 8 Ultra tri-band router and Deco 8 Ultra mesh system at IFA 2026, both utilizing the upcoming IEEE 802.11bn standard. The Archer 8 Ultra is equipped with 18 internal antennas and offers wireless speeds of up to 19Gbps alongside wired connectivity of 10Gbps. The Deco 8 Ultra mesh system provides comparable wireless speeds of up to 22Gbps with identical wired performance. The three-unit mesh package can cover approximately 9,800 square feet and supports connections for more than 200 devices simultaneously.
TP-Link has not yet disclosed pricing for either product. The company indicated that the Archer 8 Ultra will begin taking preorders on September 30th in select regions. The Deco 8 Ultra is scheduled for availability during Q1 2027, with additional Wi-Fi 8 products including range extenders, adapters, and a travel router model expected to launch in Q2 2027.
The announcement comes at a notable juncture in wireless technology adoption, as the Wi-Fi 7 standard was only finalized in January 2024. Wi-Fi 8 itself is not expected to receive final certification until May 2028. TP-Link’s approach positions the company ahead of competitors in the next-generation market. The manufacturer also addressed potential regulatory concerns by noting that its Wi-Fi 8 products employ Broadcom, Qualcomm, and MediaTek chipsets while incorporating US-based hardware and software engineering.
