CAA Names Dasha Smith as Chief Operating Officer, Joins Agency From NFL

Creative Artists Agency has announced the appointment of Dasha Smith to the position of chief operating officer. Smith joins CAA from the National Football League, where she served as executive vice president and chief administrative officer, holding a seat on commissioner Roger Goodell’s executive operating committee.

During her time at the NFL, Smith oversaw multiple business divisions spanning technology, artificial intelligence, innovation, data analytics, strategy and business intelligence, human resources, inclusion initiatives, social responsibility and philanthropy, and league office operations. She played a role in developing the organization’s broader enterprise strategy.

CAA co-chairman and CEO Bryan Lourd commented on the appointment, characterizing Smith as an accomplished leader with expertise in global organizational management. Lourd indicated the agency expects to draw on her background in guiding prominent media and sports entities.

Smith’s professional background includes positions at Sony Music Entertainment, where she held the title of executive vice president and global chief human resources officer. She previously worked at investment firm GCM Grosvenor as managing director of the office of the chairman. Smith spent a decade at WarnerMedia’s Time Inc., where she managed global employee relations and employment law matters and worked in the company’s business and legal affairs department on merger and acquisition activities. She began her legal career at law firms Latham & Watkins, Covington & Burling, and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.
