Christian Slater, Trine Dyrholm, and Dree Hemingway have been cast in Incidents of Intimacy, a feature film directed by Jasper Just in his directorial debut. The project also features Johannes Lilleøre, Julie Agnete Vang, Laura Drasbæk, and Michael Moritzen in supporting roles. Dyrholm will portray Linda, an intimacy coordinator who experiences difficulty forming genuine connections with others and instead collects objects from people as substitutes for intimacy, storing them in an organized archive within her home.
Slater’s involvement marks a return to Danish cinema following his earlier collaboration with director Lars von Trier on Nymphomaniac. Dyrholm brings extensive credits in acclaimed Danish and international productions, including roles in In a Better World, The Girl With The Needle, and A Royal Affair. Just, primarily known as a visual artist who represented Denmark at the 2013 Venice Biennale, co-wrote the screenplay with Sissel Dalsgaard Thomsen.
The film operates under the Dogma25 framework, a new slate of arthouse features produced by Zentropa with strict production guidelines. These requirements include limiting crew size to ten people maximum, requiring at least half the film to be dialogue-free, and prohibiting internet use during research and development. Budget constraints cap each production at 10 million Danish Krone, approximately $1.5 million. Financial backing comes from Zentropa, Danish broadcaster DR, and Nordisk Film Distribution.
Incidents of Intimacy will be the second film produced under the Dogma25 label, which was unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival and includes directors May el-Toukhy, Milad Alami, Annika Berg, and Isabella Eklöf. The initiative draws its name from the Dogme 95 movement established by Danish directors including Lars von Trier and Thomas Vinterberg in the late 1990s. Nordisk Film will handle theatrical distribution in Denmark, with Netflix acquiring streaming rights across Nordic regions, while TrustNordisk manages international sales. The concept has already inspired similar initiatives in Germany, with five filmmakers announcing their own Dogma 25 slate.
