Derry firm becomes one of UK's biggest carpark operators after buying NCP

The Martin Group, a property company based in Londonderry, has completed the acquisition of NCP following the car park operator’s collapse in March 2026. The administrators, PwC, oversaw the transaction that transferred the majority of NCP’s 145 sites to the Martin Group along with associated staff members.

NCP had faced sustained financial difficulties, citing long-term lease commitments with property owners and accumulated debt as primary challenges. The company’s financial position deteriorated to the point where it became unable to meet its obligations, resulting in its entry into administration.

PwC joint administrator Zelf Hussain characterized the deal as protecting hundreds of jobs and delivering optimal results for creditors. He noted that maintaining the operation of NCP’s car parks contributes to the functioning of town and city centres across Britain.

The Martin Group already maintains a substantial commercial property portfolio across the UK, including shopping centres in Preston and Romford, along with recent hotel developments in Belfast and Derry. Gary Martin, director of Martin Property Group, stated the company’s intention to preserve and strengthen the NCP brand while serving the communities where it operates.

Rob England, chief executive of NCP, characterized the acquisition as positive for the business and emphasized the company’s commitment to operational restoration and sustainable long-term growth following the transition.
