The San Diego International Film Festival announced that comedian and actress Iliza Shlesinger and Academy Award-winning actress Mira Sorvino will be honored at the festival’s Night of the Stars tribute event. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at La Jolla’s Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center on Oct. 13.
Shlesinger will receive a Trailblazer Award, a recognition given to visionaries whose groundbreaking work has challenged convention and helped shape the future of entertainment. Sorvino will be presented with a Virtuoso Award, which honors actors whose recent performances demonstrate extraordinary skill, nuance, and range. According to festival organizers, both recipients represent the type of talent and artistry the festival celebrates.
Sorvino has several film projects in development. She recently completed production on a sequel to the comedy film Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. Her upcoming releases include That’s Amore, featuring John Travolta and directed by Nick Vallelonga, and Prima, a ballet-themed drama that also stars Faye Dunaway, Nicola Peltz Beckham, and Jack Huston.
Shlesinger’s recent work includes a stand-up special titled Iliza Shlesinger: A Different Animal, which is set to premiere on Prime Video next March. She also made a transition to film with the romantic comedy Chasing Summer, directed by Josephine Decker, which debuted at Sundance and has been selected to screen at the San Diego festival.
The San Diego International Film Festival will run from Oct. 13-18. The festival has also added three new films to its 2026 selection, including Shlesinger’s Chasing Summer and two additional titles.
