The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) announced that Academy Award-winning actress Jessica Lange will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival. Lange will receive the honor during a festival screening of “Long Day’s Journey Into Night,” a film adaptation in which she stars as Mary Tyrone opposite Ed Harris. The actress previously performed this same role on Broadway, where her portrayal earned her both a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award.
Christina Routhier, senior executive director of the SCAD Savannah Film Festival, remarked on Lange’s career trajectory and artistic contributions. According to Routhier, Lange has delivered some of the most memorable performances across the past five decades, characterized by exceptional intelligence, vulnerability and authority in each role she has undertaken. The festival organizers expressed their intention to celebrate her extensive body of work and welcome her to the institution for what they describe as a significant evening for the festival’s students and audiences.
The SCAD Savannah Film Festival will run Oct. 24-31 and has expanded its programming with additional feature selections including “Paper Tiger,” “I Play Rocky,” and “Behemoth!” The festival will launch with “A Talent for Murder” and conclude with “Wild Horse Nine.” Beyond the narrative features, the festival program encompasses screenings in the Docs to Watch series, the returning Pixels and Pencils animated cinema panels, competitive film sections, and various professional development programming. Throughout its history, the festival has screened over 250 Academy Award-nominated films and honored nearly 225 industry figures including actors, directors, producers, writers and other filmmakers from international markets.
