JetBlue announced the availability of BlueFirst, a newly created domestic first-class cabin product, which became bookable on Thursday across more than 30 routes. The offering represents part of a broader restructuring of the airline’s ticketing options, which now includes basic economy fares without seat assignments, standard tickets, and a flexible tier that permits refunds and schedule changes.
The BlueFirst product will operate on domestic routes not currently served by JetBlue’s lie-flat Mint business class, which continues on longer-haul flights. The inaugural service is scheduled for Dec. 8 on a Boston to Fort Lauderdale flight, with subsequent launches on routes connecting Fort Lauderdale to LaGuardia Airport in New York, followed by gradual expansion to additional routes over subsequent weeks and months.
The airline is promoting the new first-class tier with introductory pricing for select markets, including fares of $299 from Boston to Fort Lauderdale, $249 from New York to Fort Lauderdale, and $299 from New York to Liberia, Costa Rica. The BlueFirst cabin features seats that recline up to 5 inches with an additional 7 inches of legroom compared to standard Main cabin seating, along with Bluetooth-enabled seatback screens, food and beverage service, Group 1 boarding privileges, and expedited security screening.
The initiative aligns with JetBlue’s strategic focus on returning to consistent profitability by expanding its premium service offerings in response to demonstrated consumer demand for higher-priced, more spacious seating options. CEO Joanna Geraghty described BlueFirst as delivering an accessible first-class experience combining the airline’s hospitality standards with competitive pricing and comfort features.
