Talpa Studios, the production company founded by television veteran John de Mol, is set to unveil a collection of new entertainment formats at the upcoming Mipcom television market. The studio’s slate includes two primary offerings designed for international distribution across multiple platforms and regions.
“Sing With Me” is a music entertainment format created through a partnership with Dutch producer IDTV, known for developing “The Traitors.” The program features aspiring singers performing alongside established artists from their respective countries. Performances begin with solo renditions, and established artists may join performers to create duets when they recognize potential. The format will debut on Netherlands broadcaster SBS6 on Nov. 7.
“The Golden Elevators” operates as a hybrid quiz and strategy competition where ten contestants navigate a skyscraper setting by selecting between two elevators, each representing answers to ten questions. Correct choices advance contestants upward while incorrect selections eliminate them. A distinctive element allows competitors to collaborate before doors close, sharing information or deliberately misdirecting rivals, introducing strategic and interpersonal elements alongside knowledge-based challenges. A substantial prize awaits those who reach the building’s top. Both ITV in the United Kingdom and SBS6 in the Netherlands have ordered the format, with the Dutch version scheduled for early next year.
Talpa Studios’ expanding portfolio currently encompasses 26 formats operating across 34 countries. The company has increasingly emphasized collaborative development models, with partnerships now representing over 40% of its catalog. Notable collaborative productions include “A Party to Die For,” developed with ITV Studios, and “Let’s Play Ball,” co-created with EndemolShine Nederland and Signal. Stream, which has subsequently received commissions in French Canada and Finland.
Existing Talpa properties continue gaining international traction. “The Floor” has reached more than 30 territories, while “The Winner Takes It All” secured its first French adaptation and a Netherlands renewal. “The Alliance” launched on Prime Video in India with a celebrity version and has been greenlit for additional seasons. “Caught in the Middle” is returning for a second Netherlands season and expanding internationally to Spain and Australia.
