Actor Kartik Aaryan is starring in an upcoming action drama titled “Captain India,” which centers on a humanitarian evacuation amid the Houthi conflict in Yemen. This marks Aaryan’s first leading role as a pilot character. Director Shimit Amin is helming the project, which draws inspiration from an actual rescue operation.
The film’s narrative is grounded in geopolitical tensions resulting from the Saudi-Houthi confrontation, which began in 2015 when Houthi forces captured Sanaa and Saudi Arabia launched a military campaign. The production is based on one of India’s most challenging evacuation efforts in Yemen that same year, when Indian officials rescued both Indian nationals and citizens from other countries.
The project is being produced by T-Series and Baweja Studios in association with Dopamine Studios, Aaryan’s production company. Bhushan Kumar of T-Series serves as a producer, with S B Films overseeing production. The screenplay was written by Nash Vazifdar, Sanchit Gupta, and Priyadarshee Shrivastava. Filming is currently taking place in the United Kingdom.
Aaryan recently appeared in “Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri” and “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3,” with additional projects including “Naagzilla” in development. Amin is known for directing “Chak De! India” and “Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year” (2009) for Yash Raj Films, and recently directed an episode of the BBC/Netflix series “A Suitable Boy” (2020). “Captain India” is scheduled to release in theaters on Aug. 13, 2027, coinciding with India’s Independence Day weekend.
