Netflix marked its tenth anniversary in Korea with a two-day festival at Sangam Oil Tank Culture Park on Oct. 24-25, drawing thousands of fans for themed activities, merchandise, games and live performances. Co-CEO Ted Sarandos previewed several forthcoming projects during the event, which featured cast members from major Netflix series including “Squid Game,” “KPop Demon Hunters,” “D.P.,” “Hellbound” and “Mask Girl.”
Upcoming releases highlighted by the company include “Possible Love,” directed by Lee Chang-dong and arriving Nov. 6, followed by “Tantara” in December. Additional projects in development without set premiere dates include “Grand Galaxy Hotel,” “She, Wolf,” “All of Us Are Dead” Season 2 and “Solo Leveling.” Netflix noted that more than a third of its Korean titles between 2024 and 2026 were directed or written by first-time creators.
Since launching in Korea on Jan. 6, 2016, Netflix has accumulated over 200 Korean titles on its Global Top 10 charts. “Squid Game” holds the record for the longest consecutive appearance at 32 weeks, with the show’s three seasons ranking among the platform’s most-watched non-English series globally. Over four in five Netflix subscribers worldwide have watched at least one Korean title, making K-content the company’s largest non-English content category.
Netflix cited substantial economic and cultural impacts from its Korean productions. Between 2016 and 2025, the company partnered with over 80 production firms, employing more than 20,000 actors and crew members across shoots in more than 100 locations nationwide. A single production, “When Life Gives You Tangerines,” generated approximately KRW90 billion ($60.4 million) for the Korean economy. The company’s training initiatives reached over 6,500 people between 2021 and 2025.
The platform also documented increased interest in Korean language and travel connected to its content. Applications for Korea’s TOPIK language exam exceeded 550,000 in September 2025, surpassing the entire previous year’s total. Korean learners on Duolingo rose 37 percent following a major series launch, while overseas visitors to locations featured in shows increased significantly following their premieres.
