Nacon announced the Revolution 5 Unlimited, a PlayStation 5 controller featuring an integrated screen and comprehensive customization options. The device represents what the manufacturer describes as the first officially licensed PS5 controller with an embedded display. The screen enables users to adjust settings including joystick sensitivity and button remapping directly on the gamepad.
A notable feature of the Revolution 5 Unlimited is its ability to handle audio from multiple sources simultaneously. When used with wired headphones connected to the gamepad, the controller allows users to blend audio from a connected phone with sounds from their PS5 game, managed through the built-in screen interface. The device is available for preorder starting today through Nacon’s online store at $229.99, with shipments expected later this year.
The controller incorporates an asymmetrical thumbstick layout similar to Xbox and Switch controllers, equipped with drift-resistant magnetoresistive technology. Users can customize the thumbsticks by attaching alternative heads with different designs, and the D-pad is interchangeable between a traditional four-way layout and an eight-way configuration beneficial for fighting game combinations. The device also supports weight customization through insertable components ranging from 10 to 16 grams to adjust grip balance.
Additional features include adjustable trigger travel for reduced reaction times in first-person shooters, multiple shoulder buttons, and eight customizable shortcut buttons positioned across the top and back. The R5U functions with PCs and Android devices in addition to PS5. Nacon provides a companion mobile application for iOS and Android that extends customization capabilities to include thumbstick response curve adjustment, audio equalization settings, and RGB lighting color modification around the right stick.
