Norwegian shares surge 13% on earnings beat, guidance raise

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings experienced a significant stock price increase Thursday following the release of third-quarter financial results that surpassed Wall Street forecasts and prompted management to raise its full-year outlook.

The cruise operator reported third-quarter revenue of $2.95 billion, exceeding analyst expectations of $2.88 billion. Net income for the quarter totaled $491 million, or $1.07 per share. On an adjusted basis, the company posted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of $937 million, compared to its prior guidance of $874 million. Adjusted earnings per share reached $1.12, beating both previous guidance of 90 cents and analyst estimates of 94 cents.

Following the strong quarterly performance, Norwegian raised its expectations for the full year. The company now projects adjusted EBITDA of $2.55 billion and adjusted EPS of approximately $1.70 for 2026. Management attributed the improved outlook to the better-than-expected third-quarter results.

While the company noted that bookings had improved modestly since its last update, they remain below the level management considers optimal. To support future growth, Norwegian outlined plans to launch a new marketing platform in January and pursue additional enhancements at its properties, including a new waterpark at its Great Stirrup Cay private island.

Separately, Norwegian announced organizational changes in its finance leadership. Chief Financial Officer Mark Kempa is stepping down after more than 25 years with the company. Meghan Montana, who currently serves as chief strategy officer, will assume the CFO position effective January 1.
