The Santa Barbara International Film Festival has announced eight honorees for its Virtuosos Award, recognizing performers who achieved breakthrough performances in 2026. The selected recipients include Carrie Coon, Mariana di Girolamo, Rosalind Eleazar, Jordan Firstman, Anthony Oppolito, Jaafar Jackson, Inde Navarrette, and Kate O’Flynn.
The honorees represent a mix of lead and supporting roles across multiple film projects. Coon, Eleazar, and Navarrette are in consideration for best actress recognition for their work in The Liberation, Misty Green, and Obsession respectively. Firstman, Oppolito, and Jackson are positioned as best actor contenders for Club Kid, I Play Rocky, and Michael. Di Girolamo and O’Flynn are regarded as leading contenders in the best supporting actress category for Wild Horse Nine and Tender Loving Care.
The Virtuosos Award ceremony will take place at Santa Barbara’s Arlington Theatre on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2027. The event will feature individual and group discussions about the recipients’ work, moderated by Dave Karger, a TCM host and author of 50 Movie Nights: Contemporary Stars on Their Favorite Classic Films. This marks the 17th consecutive year that Karger will oversee the Virtuosos evening.
According to festival organizers, the 2027 class represents a particularly international group of performers. The award program continues a tradition of recognizing emerging talent, with past honorees including Teyana Taylor, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and Zendaya. The 42nd edition of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival will run from Feb. 3-13, 2027.
