East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced an expansion of mental health services aimed at boosting access to support for residents. The initiative, known as Wellbeing for Us, is designed for adults aged 18 and over and focuses on helping participants develop confidence, establish meaningful social connections, and reduce feelings of isolation.
The programme offers multiple forms of support, including face-to-face workshops and informal peer support social groups. Topics addressed through these sessions span managing anxiety and stress, as well as building self-esteem. Beyond these direct services, the programme also assists residents in connecting with broader support systems, including community organizations, NHS referrals, and other health services available to them.
Workshops are being delivered on a rolling basis across multiple locations within East Yorkshire, including Withernsea, Hornsea, Bridlington, Beverley, Driffield, Pocklington, Goole, and Hessle. Drop-in sessions are available in Goole and at Lelley Fields Crematorium. Informal peer support social groups are currently operating in Goole and at Lelley Fields Crematorium, with additional groups planned for the future, according to the council.
The expansion comes as attention turns toward World Mental Health Day, with the council encouraging residents experiencing mental health challenges to take advantage of the free resources available to them.
