Wakefield Trinity achieved an unprecedented milestone by capturing the Super League championship in their inaugural Grand Final appearance. The club defeated Warrington Wolves with a final score of 23-10 at Old Trafford, becoming the sixth different organization to win the Super League title. The victory represents a significant achievement for a franchise that had experienced relegation in 2023 before returning to the top division in the 2025 season.
Wakefield’s dominance was evident throughout the match, particularly in the opening half when they established a commanding 19-0 lead. The team secured converted tries from Cameron Scott, Isaiah Vagana, and Jazz Tevaga, with kicker Max Jowitt demonstrating precision from the conversion attempts. Jack Sinfield contributed a drop goal in the closing moments of the first half to extend the advantage further. The club’s forward pack proved particularly effective in establishing field position and creating pressure on the opposition.
Warrington mounted a second-half comeback after Corey Hall received a sin-bin dismissal for a high tackle on Arron Lindop. The Wolves scored twice during this period, with Lindop crossing the line on two separate occasions and Ewan Irwin converting one of those efforts to bring the score to 19-6. However, Warrington’s momentum could not be sustained as a potential try by Matty Ashton was ruled out for a forward pass.
Wakefield reasserted control in the latter stages, with winger Tom Johnstone scoring a crucial try that extended the lead to 23-6 with twenty minutes remaining. Although Warrington added another try through Lindop late in the contest, the conversion attempt was unsuccessful, leaving the final score at 23-10. Johnstone was awarded the Rob Burrow Award for his exceptional performance on both offense and defense throughout the match.
