The Celebrity Traitors cast features multiple contestants who have established connections outside the competition, distinguishing this season from the civilian version of the show. Comedian Romesh Ranganathan and Rob Beckett are noted friends who have collaborated extensively, appearing together on their travel series Rob & Romesh Vs and panel shows such as Mock the Week. Ranganathan acknowledged before the show that despite their decade-long friendship, he would be unable to fully trust Beckett within the competition.
Among the comedians in the cast, several additional working relationships have been established. Joe Lycett has publicly identified James Acaster as a friend and has joked about how frequently the two are confused for one another; they previously worked together on Travel Man. Lycett is also acquainted with Joanne McNally, describing her as one of his favorite people. Other comedic connections include Beckett and Lycett appearing together on Last One Laughing, McNally and Ranganathan participating in the game show Unacceptable, and Acaster appearing on Ranganathan’s hip hop podcast.
Two broadcasters in the cast, Maya Jama and Amol Rajan, have encountered various other contestants through their professional work. Rajan previously hosted Michael Sheen and Joe Lycett on Radio 2 Breakfast, interviewed Ranganathan on BBC Asian Network, and appeared with Ross Kemp, Miranda Hart, James Blunt, and Hannah Fry on separate occasions. Rajan became the first player to be murdered before these connections could significantly influence gameplay. Jama has presented awards with James Blunt at the Brit Awards, appeared on Ranganathan’s podcast, and participated in The Big Fat Quiz of the Year with Lycett and Acaster.
Younger cast members also possess notable connections. Bella Ramsey and Sebastian Croft both appeared in season six of Game of Thrones. Ramsey additionally worked with Blunt on the film Sunny Dancer and was interviewed by Acaster on his Off Menu podcast. Jerry Hall and Richard E Grant are neighbors with a 30-year association.
