Vietnamese supernatural horror film “Bloodline: The Curse Within” is set to be introduced to international distributors and buyers by Mockingbird Pictures at the Asian Contents & Film Market during the Busan International Film Festival. The film, directed by Đinh Đức Thiện and produced by K8 Studio and Hoàng Gia, will debut in Vietnamese theaters on Dec. 25. The picture is titled “Huyết Thống” in its home market.
The narrative centers on an accomplished pediatric heart surgeon whose daughter becomes the target of a vengeful supernatural entity. As conventional medical intervention proves ineffective against an ancient curse, the protagonist is forced to confront his own buried past, which forms the origin of the haunting. The film examines the intersection of medicine and spirituality while exploring themes of family obligation and generational consequences.
The ensemble cast includes award-winning actor Quách Ngọc Ngoan, known for his leading role in “The Immortal” and recent appearance in “The Journey of Heroes.” Supporting cast members are Quang Tuấn, a recognized figure in Vietnamese horror cinema who has appeared in “The Corpse” franchise, and Lan Phương, who featured in “Phi Phong: The Blood Demon,” the highest-grossing Vietnamese horror title to date.
Mockingbird Pictures, which holds worldwide distribution rights, specializes in bringing Vietnamese and Southeast Asian films to international markets. The company handles over 60 theatrical releases annually alongside more than 100 post-theatrical titles spanning multiple genres. Director Đinh Đức Thiện noted that the film balances supernatural elements with grounded human themes, while producer comments emphasized commitment to quality filmmaking and authentic horror that resonates beyond regional boundaries.
