President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he has offered the position of White House press secretary to Dana White, the president and CEO of the UFC. The announcement was made via a social media post from Trump’s golf club in Florida, where he described White as “the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior” and stated that he wanted White to become the administration’s chief spokesperson.
White, who was attending a boxing event in London at the time, responded to the offer at a news conference by confirming he would travel to Washington to meet with Trump on Monday. When questioned about how he would balance the press secretary role with his existing positions in the fighting world, White appeared uncertain about the query and indicated he already holds multiple jobs. He declined to provide details about previous conversations with Trump but suggested there would be more to discuss following their planned meeting.
Trump’s post also mentioned a request for White to bring several UFC fighters as “assistants” to the White House, stating “We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left.” White shared an image of Trump’s post on Instagram accompanied by a photo of himself at the White House press briefing room podium, captioned “On to the next chapter,” though he did not explicitly confirm whether he was seriously considering accepting the position.
The announcement comes as Trump’s administration faces significant transition and organizational challenges. The White House is currently without a permanent press secretary after Katie Zacharia departed following just five days in the role. Additionally, Trump recently replaced longtime adviser Susie Wiles with Stephen Miller as chief of staff following the administration’s losses in recent midterm elections.
Trump and White have maintained a close friendship, with Trump attending multiple UFC events since his return to office in January 2025. White has also been a regular speaker at Republican National Conventions, including in 2016, 2020, and 2024.
