Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey released its annual report detailing the organization’s work throughout 2025 and progress achieved during its five-year strategic period from 2021 to 2025. The report demonstrates considerable growth in support services provided to residents affected by cancer.
Counselling and higher-level emotional-support sessions experienced particularly notable expansion, rising from 407 sessions in 2021 to 835 in 2025, representing a 105% increase. Complementary therapy sessions showed even more dramatic growth, climbing from 405 in 2021 to 965 in 2025, an increase of 138%. During 2025 alone, the charity delivered 4,253 total support sessions to Islanders affected by cancer. The organization also reported that 308 individuals accessed its drop-in cancer support and wellbeing centre without requiring a referral.
Over the five-year strategy period, the charity generated £4.38m in income and invested £3.44m toward delivering and developing services. In 2025 specifically, the organization raised £963,090 and invested £890,352 in its operations. A significant fundraising achievement came through the Tour des Pyrénées cycling event, where 52 cyclists completed a coast-to-coast challenge and raised what the charity characterized as a record-breaking £236,000.
A major service innovation highlighted in the report was the introduction of holistic needs assessments, which were formally launched following a pilot phase. These assessments are designed to identify individuals’ physical, emotional, practical, and financial needs early in their cancer experience, enabling personalized care plans to be developed.
Looking forward, the charity announced a new strategy spanning 2026 to 2030 that will emphasize expanding emotional, wellbeing, and group support services while extending offerings for people living with and beyond cancer. Organization leadership acknowledged continued growth in demand while noting that patient needs continue to evolve.
