‘Shark Tank India’ Sets Season 6 With Parrot Campaign on SonyLIV (EXCLUSIVE)

Shark Tank India has introduced a promotional campaign titled “#DontBeATota” ahead of the opening of its sixth season for applications on streaming platform SonyLIV. The initiative addresses a trend among entrepreneurs who prioritize the language of business over actual business acumen, particularly as terms like valuation, burn rate, and EBITDA have entered common usage.

The campaign centers on a character called Tota, a parrot designed to embody the concept of memorizing startup terminology without genuine understanding. The mascot illustrates the campaign’s core message: while anyone can learn entrepreneurial vocabulary, only founders with substantive knowledge of their business can successfully build it. The juxtaposition highlights the distinction between sounding like an entrepreneur and actually operating as one.

Aman Gupta, a Shark participant and co-founder of boAt, commented on the campaign’s premise, stating that repeating startup jargon alone does not constitute business building. Gupta emphasized that Shark Tank India has contributed to making entrepreneurship a mainstream topic but stressed that actual company building depends on solving real problems, understanding business fundamentals deeply, and demonstrating perseverance.

Prospective founders seeking to participate in the upcoming season can now submit applications through SonyLIV. The network is actively seeking applicants who can display genuine conviction and clear comprehension of their business models. The Script Room was responsible for developing and producing the campaign.
