Our approach
RocketNews is built to know as little about you as possible. Reading our site requires no account and no personal information. We run no advertising, no ad-tracking cookies, and no cross-site tracking, and we never sell or share personal information for marketing. The only data involved in visiting RocketNews is aggregate readership statistics (Google Analytics) and standard server logs. The only personal information we ever hold is what you choose to send us — a contact message, an article submission, or the business details of a featured-article purchase — and we use it solely for that purpose.
What we collect and why
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate site usage — pages viewed, approximate geographic region, browser type, and how visitors arrive. GA4 uses cookies and similar identifiers for this purpose. We use this information only in aggregate; we do not use it to identify individual visitors. Google’s practices are described in their privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy), and you can opt out of Google Analytics measurement using Google’s browser opt-out tool (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser.
Forms. If you contact us or submit an article through our forms, we collect the information you provide (such as name, email address, and your submission) in order to respond and provide the requested service.
Featured article services. If you purchase a featured article placement, payment is processed by our payment providers (such as PayPal or a credit card processor). We do not receive or store your full payment card details; we retain records of the transaction and the published content.
Server logs. Like nearly all websites, our hosting infrastructure automatically records standard technical logs (IP address, request URL, timestamp, browser user agent) for security and operations. These are retained for a limited period and are not used for marketing.
Third-party content on our pages
News summaries on RocketNews include images loaded directly from the original news source’s servers, and some pages include embedded third-party content (for example, market data widgets). When your browser loads that content, it connects to the third party’s servers, which may set their own cookies and collect data as if you had visited that website directly. Their collection is governed by their privacy policies, not ours.
How long we keep data
Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics default settings. Form submissions and business correspondence are kept as long as needed for the purpose they were provided, and transaction records as required for accounting and legal purposes.
Your rights
You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or security reasons).
