India would see different outcomes, with overall agricultural production value potentially rising by 46%, including a 65% increase in crop production. Europe could face a 35% decline in total agricultural production value.

Researchers emphasized that the analysis assumes costless shifts in consumer preferences toward healthier diets, which may not account for real-world barriers including affordability, accessibility, cultural preferences, and income constraints. They stress that successful transformation would require bold policy decisions to protect vulnerable food producers and consumers from severe economic disruption, and that additional research is needed to explore alternative pathways based on different policy choices and behavioral patterns.
